2010 AFL Season Specials Betting

The opening round of the AFL is off and running, and as fans still have a whole season ahead to gauge performance and skill, there are a fantastic array of markets on offer at Sportsbet now!

While punters can bet on mainstream markets such as the outright winner of the season, the wooden spoon winners and the sides to make the Grand Final – there are so many more options available for the novice and more experienced punter.

There are odds on player total goals for how many goals a player will score throughout the season, and currently Brendan Fevola and Lance Franklin, from the Brisbane Lions and Hawthorn respectively, are both at $1.90 to score over 80.5 points for the season.

Another market available is the winner of the Best and Fairest Award for each team. The best and fairest is taken into consideration over the first 14 rounds of the season, and sees Jobe Watson from Essendon and Brent Harvey from North Melbourne topping the odds, both at $3.35.

Gary Ablett is at $3.75 to win the best and fairest for Geelong, while Nick Riewoldt is the favourite for St Kilda at $3.85.

Sportsbet has also created a market for some team specials, with two teams selected and punters able to bet on which of the two will win more matches throughout the season. It is close between the 2009 Grand Final sides, with St Kilda edging ahead in the odds at $1.83, while Geelong are at $1.97.

Elsewhere Collingwood and Brisbane are pipped against each other, with Collingwood going in as favourites at $1.80, while the Brisbane Lions are at $2.

There is also a special AFL/NRL Premiership double market, for those punters who are fans of both types of footie, and St Kilda and the St George Illawarra Dragons are the favourite combination at $23.38.

St Kilda and either the Melbourne Storm or the Parramatta Eels are another strong duo with odds of $25.50.
