Biggest Ever AFL Bet Placed Could Pay Out $3 Million

One Sportsbet punter could earn themself a handsome sum come the 25th September, after putting down half-a-million dollars on St Kilda to win the premiership.

This is the largest bet written in AFL betting history and will comfortably be the biggest ever collected if St Kilda wins the flag.

The bet was placed with Sportsbet at $6 odds this morning, and if the Saints take home the flag at the end of the season the punter will receive a huge payout of $3 million.

The smart AFL fan was one step ahead of the game, and did not place his wager less than a month ago when the Saints were at $3.60 for the flag biding his time.

“Clearly this punter thought the price was too good to refuse. He has had an account with us since April but this is the first bet he’s placed,”  Haydn Lane from Ladbrokes.com.au said.

“This is the largest bet written in AFL betting history and will comfortably be the biggest ever collected if St Kilda wins the flag.”

Prior to today’s huge bet, the biggest bet to have been placed on the 2010 AFL season was in March when a punter backed the Western Bulldogs for a win at $6.50 and put down $50,000.

This is ten times that – but if the Saints produce the win, the suspense will all be worth it.

The bettor got in on the action at the right time, as the odds have already shortened on St Kilda, going down to $5 to win the 2010 AFL Premiership within a matter of hours.

So if you have that sort of money lying around to bet on the AFL don’t miss out on some of these lucrative odds! Even if you don’t, a few bucks could still go pretty far.
