NAB Cup 2012 Final – Preview and Betting Guide

Saturday night’s pre-season NAB Cup final between Adelaide and West Coast is set to be a bumper affair with each side looking to build much needed momentum heading into the regular season as well as take the $180,000 in prize money.

While some in the AFL fraternity like to label the game as a mickey-mouse fixture, both sides will be turning out strong outfits for the match which should ensure an entertaining encounter.

Adelaide are slight $1.73 favourites at leading sports bookmaker with the men from the West currently paying $2.02.

The game will be held at Adelaide’s AAMI Stadium after the AFL awarded them hosting rights this week on the basis that the Eagles had travelled less throughout the pre-season competition.

Despite being the outsiders and playing away from home, the Eagles remain a strong chance in what is the first time two sides have met in a NAB Cup final.

West Coast will be boosted by the likely returns of  Josh Kennedy (foot), Luke Shuey (ankle), Andrew Embley (shoulder) and Andrew Gaff (groin) in what will be a boost to their title hopes.

Adelaide have decided to resist temptation to play Richard Douglas (soreness) and Ben Rutten (foot) with the season proper still at the forefront of coach Brenton Sanderson’s mind.

The Crows have a slightly better pre-season record having won 34 of 56 matches while West Coast have won 28 of 57 matches.

Of those matches West Coast have only won outside of Perth 11 times.

The first bounce of the match will occurr at AAMI Stadium on Saturday night at 7.10pm (Adelaide time).
