This weekend’s match of the round features two teams coming into the clash refreshed after a bye. The break was much-needed by Essendon who slipped to sixth on the competition ladder after suffering two losses including a shock defeat to Melbourne. Fremantle also appreciated the break as it allowed a weary group of players to get some rest and to recover from some niggling injuries.
Prior to the bye, Fremantle produced one of their best performances of the season when they bounced back from three straight losses to record a gritty victory over Richmond. Currently sitting in 11th position, the Dockers will have to reproduce a similar performance this weekend to be seriously considered as a playoff contender. They will have to do with without the services of star ruckman Aaron Sandilands who is sidelined with injury.
Essendon started the season in fine form but have slipped away of late and will need to be at their best to beat a hungry Dockers outfit. The Bombers traditionally struggle in Perth and will have to work out how to shut down Dockers star Matthew Pavlich. If the Bombers can get their forward line to fire, which they have struggled with this season, it is likely they will have too much talent for Fremantle but whether or not they can fire is the question?
Essendon look to have more depth than the injury depleted Dockers and after a week off look for them to return to their best this weekend. They should prove a touch too strong for a Fremantle side that will come out firing despite the absence of some key players.

We are tipping the Essedon forward line to step up and be counted this weekend which should allow the Bombers to cover the -2.5 line.
