This week’s match of the round features two teams that are likely to play a role in the finals series and are both battling the get as high on the competition ladder as possible. Collingwood currently hold fourth spot but West Coast and nipping at their heels sitting just one win behind them in fifth.
The men from the west beat the hapless Port Adelaide in convincing fashion last weekend but they will have to step it up a notch if they are to beat Collingwood and get back into premiership contention. Giving them a boost against the ‘pies this weekend is the return from injury of Josh Kennedy who provides an excellent scoring option up front. West Coast will have to be at their defensive best to win on how they handle Collingwood stars Dane Swan, Scott Pendlebury and Dayne Beams will be a telling factor in the outcome.
Two words. Dane Swan. The star returns from a two-match ban for drinking alcohol and a big game from him will go a long way to sealing the contest for Collingwood. While Swan is set to return Collingwood could be without skipper Nick Maxwell and Mooney is also under an injury cloud. Star ruckman Darren Jolly is another who may miss the fixture and the trio’s availability could go a long way to deciding the result.
It’s going to be a close match no doubt about it. While the ‘pies are boosted by the return of Swan the fact a number will be either playing with injury clouds or missing should allow West Coast to get the chocolates.
West Coast by 8.
West Coast win – $1.75
