2014 AFL Round Three Betting Preview

There are a number of exciting clashes in round three of the 2014 AFL Season, but none are bigger than the Grand Final rematch between the Fremantle Dockers and Hawthorn Hawks at the MCG tonight.

Both teams have been affected by injuries and suspension, but the game is sure to be a cracker; with the Dockers chasing revenge from their loss to the Hawks in last year’s Grand Final.

There are plenty of competitive games taking place in the AFL this weekend and our team of sports betting experts have analysed each contest to come up with the best betting plays for the weekend.

Friday – Hawthorn Hawks vs Fremantle Dockers

Both of these teams have started the 2014 AFL season with two straight victories, but it is fair to say that the Dockers have looked stronger in doing so. The Hawks were lucky to get away with a win over the Essendon Bombers last weekend, while the Dockers have beaten Collingwood and The Gold Coast in impressive fashion.

However, the Dockers are without key midfielder Nathan Fyfe and while the Hawks will miss Luke Hodge the return of Sam Mitchell is a big plus. This game is sure to be a thriller, but the Hawks should be able to sneak home for another narrow win.

Saturday – Western Bulldogs vs Richmond Tigers

Richmond scored their maiden win of the year with a narrow win over Carlton last week, while the Western Bulldogs have not been impressive in their two losses to the West Coast Eagles and North Melbourne Kangaroos to date.

The Tigers looked good for the majority of their clash with the Blues, but fell apart towards the end of the game and coach Damian Hardwicke will be looking for a more complete performance from his team. We expect the Tigers to record a comfortable win and beat the spread with ease.

Sunday – North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Port Adelaide Power

There was plenty expected of the North Melbourne Kangaroos heading into the 2014 AFL season, but they are yet to deliver; starting the season with two poor performances despite beating the Western Bulldogs last week. In contrast the Power have started how they left off last season and looked the goods in their meetings with the Blues and Adelaide Crows.

The Power are still being underrated by bookmakers and deserve to be clear favourites to record their third straight victory.

The Tip: Port Adelaide by 16
